The Best New Luxury Hotel Openings in France in 2026
2026 is a remarkable year for luxury hospitality in France. A private island on the French Riviera that has been closed for five years finally reopens. A 14th-century abbey in the heart of Burgundy’s greatest wine region becomes a hotel. A surrealist townhouse near the Arc de Triomphe redefines what a boutique hotel in Paris can feel like. And in the Loire Valley, the first five-star hotel in one of France’s most beautiful towns is finally here. Not to be dramatic when I say… these are more than hotels. They are experiences that will define how you remember a trip to France for the rest of your life. The kind of properties where everything is taken care of, where the only decision you need to make is whether to have another glass of wine. Some of these properties are already difficult to book and others will be very soon. If you want help securing a reservation – and accessing exclusive perks at the same time – my travel planning service exists exactly for this.
Now, these are the hotels that I’m most excited about in France in 2026!

L’Aventure
For those who want something more intimate in Paris, L’Aventure is the hotel for you. A 15-room five-star hotel, restaurant, and private club near the Arc de Triomphe, designed to make you want to stay inside all evening rather than venture out. The public spaces were designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio around Victor Hugo’s The Legend of the Ages. Upstairs, the 15 rooms are entirely Vincent Darré’s creation with hand-painted surrealist frescoes, making you feel like you’ve stumbled into a private Parisian world rather than checking into a hotel.
L’Aventure has been welcoming guests as of March 3, 2026.
New Hotel Openings in the French Riviera

Zannier Ile de Bendor – Bandol
If there is one opening in France in 2026 that I am genuinely excited for, it’s Zannier Île de Bendor, which opened on May 1, 2026 on the private Île de Bendor. Île de Bendor is a 17-acre island just seven minutes by boat from the coastal town of Bandol, roughly 40 minutes east of Marseille. The island was originally brought to life in 1950 by Paul Ricard, the Marseille-born pastis pioneer, who built it as his personal vision of Mediterranean life. After five years of restoration by Zannier Hotels in partnership with the Ricard family, the island is open to visitors once again.
The hotel has 93-rooms spread across three areas of the island, each with its own atmosphere and design identity. Delos captures the refined spirit of the 1960s French Riviera. Soukana is centered on wellness and reconnection. The five Madrague Houses offer Provençal family living near the harbor with private gardens. Between them there are nine dining venues, a holistic wellness centre, a beach cove, a diving centre, and an incredible kind of energy. Personally, this is the Riviera that I crave.
Nordelaia sur Mer – Beaulieu-sur-Mer
From the team behind Nordelaia in Piedmont comes their first French address (and the concept is perfect for the Riviera). Nordelaia sur Mer sits above Beaulieu-sur-Mer’s renovated port, steps from the sea, with minimalist rooms filled with natural light, soft tones, and artisanal details. A rooftop with 360° views over the water, a Mediterranean tapas menu, and a carefully curated wine list complete the picture. It is understated, contemporary, and meant to be calming… the much-needed antidote to the louder, more performative side of the Riviera that can make a week on the Côte d’Azur feel exhausting rather than restorative. For those who love the Riviera but find the scene overwhelming, this is the address to know.
The hotel is set to open in early 2026, yet as of June 2026, an official date has not been announced.
New Hotel Openings in Burgundy
Les Sources de Vougeot – Cote de Nuits
Burgundy draws nearly five million visitors a year for its wines, and in my opinion, what it’s never had (until now) is a hotel that matches the ambition of what is in the glass. Les Sources de Vougeot opened in March 2026 within the historic Château de Gilly sitting just steps from the legendary Clos de Vougeot vineyard in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. It is the third property from Alice and Jérôme Tourbier, the couple behind Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux and Les Sources de Cheverny in the Loire Valley… and it may be their finest yet.
The 49 rooms are each a tribute to the Burgundy terroir – original terracotta floors, restored woodwork, locally sourced antiques, and soft contemporary interiors. Chef Julien Martin leads the gastronomic restaurant with a menu built around the seasons and the great vintages of the Côte de Nuits. There is also a Caudalie spa, a wine bar with one of the finest Burgundy selections in the region, an outdoor pool, tennis, and bicycles for exploring the vineyard routes. Two hours by train from Paris, directly in the middle of one of the greatest wine regions in the world, and absolutely a hotel worth staying in!
Maison Le Chevreuil – Meursault
If Les Sources de Vougeot is Burgundy’s grand statement hotel opening of 2026, Maison Le Chevreuil is its more intimate counterpart – and for a certain kind of traveler, the more compelling one. Opening in September 2026 in the heart of Meursault, one of the most iconic villages on the Côte de Beaune and the source of some of the world’s finest white wines, the property is the result of a careful two-year restoration alongside local craftsmen by five European partners who are, above all else, serious wine lovers.
The ten rooms – each with views over the vineyards or the village square – are designed entirely around the art of winemaking. Curved showers echo the shape of fermentation vats, the palette runs to deep wine reds and dark wood, and every bed in the house is a handmade Hästens (a reputable Swedish brand). The TERRE restaurant under chef Alfredo Martin, formerly of GrandCoeur Paris, cooks over open flame with whatever the region is producing best that week.
New Hotel Opening in the Loire Valley
Relais d’Amboise – Amboise
Amboise is one of the most beautiful towns in the Loire Valley – home to a royal château, Leonardo da Vinci’s final residence, and one of the most picturesque stretches of the river in all of France. What it has never had is a five-star hotel worthy of the setting. However, that changes this summer with the opening of Le Relais d’Amboise, from Marugal – the team behind Cap Rocat in Mallorca and Dunas de Formentera.
Le Relais d’Amboise transforms two historic properties into a 63-room retreat in the heart of the town. The highlights include a riverfront restaurant with views over the Loire, the only rooftop bar in Amboise, and a spa set within caves carved directly into the hillside. Les Greniers de César, a restored stone farm building on the estate, will host exhibitions and events, and the original barrel-lined cellars are being used for wine tastings that lean heavily into the Loire Valley’s extraordinary range of producers. For those who have always wanted to spend a few days in the Loire Valley and never found a hotel that justified it, this is the answer. Relais d’Amboise is set to open August 31, 2026.
France has always set the standard for luxury travel and 2026 is proof that the standard keeps rising. Whether you are drawn to a private island in the Riviera, a vineyard château in Burgundy, or a surrealist hideaway in Paris, the properties on this list represent the best of what France has to offer right now. This post will be updated as new properties open, so make sure check back. And if you need help planning a trip around any of these hotels, I would love to help you do it properly.
